You probably are, BUT can you stop the human element?

We did a recent experiment in a large company.  Where we sent out an (obviously) fake email.  The email was sent out to almost 400 employees.

Within 1 hour of the email being sent 115 people had clicked on the link.  That is over 25% !

So ask yourself these 3 questions.

  1. Can you prevent your staff from opening that email with the attractive link?
  2. Can you stop your staff using unauthorised USB’s in their work computers?
  3. Or even just accidentally losing or having your work laptop stolen?

Probably not.

With new Legislation making its way through Parliament, compulsory notification of Cyber attacks for large business will become mandatory….. but it’s not just the big boys that suffer cyber attacks. More than 20% of Australian businesses have experienced some form of cyber crime (2012 CERT), and 40% of all attacks are directed at SME’s (Symantec).

Some of the common events that can result in a cyber claim include:

a hack attack
breach of privacy
lost or stolen iPad or laptop
A Cyber Protection policy can provide cover for:

Third Party Claims – covers your liability to third parties from a failure to keep data secure. You may suffer claims for compensation by third parties, plus investigation and defence costs, and even fines and penalties from breaching the Privacy Act.
First Party Costs – reimburses you for the costs you incur to respond to a breach ….. such as IT Forensic Costs, Credit Monitoring Costs, Public Relations Expenses and Cyber Extortion Costs (including ransom payments to hackers).
Business Interruption – this section provides reimbursement for your loss of profits resulting from the breach, plus the additional necessary expenses incurred to allow you to continue to trade as usual.
Quick quotations for Cyber Protection cover are available for most SME’s. For more information, contact:-
